Ministry is using whatever God has given me to freely serve Him and others.

Thereby, intended Christian Ministry
cannot be:
  • Actions intended to gain God's acceptance of us (or of a sin).
  • A catharsis; a device to achieve personal/psychological comfort or absolution.
  • A private quest in charity or good will, where God is not our cause.
  • Conditional upon our monetary or material benefit.
  • Something unrequired by the Spirit of Christ.

 Christian Love evokes Christian Ministry:

    I. to God [Acts 13:2]
    II. to People
        A. to Christians [
Hebrews 6:10]
        B. to the world [
Matthew 5:13]

 How we minister to God:

…do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before Him, to minister to Him, and to be His ministers… ~II Chronicles 29:11

…love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways, and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul. ~Joshua 22:5

Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. ~Psalm 100:2

He [David] appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the Ark of the Lord, even to celebrate and to thank and praise the Lord God of Israel. ~I Chronicles 16:4

I urge you, brothers, by the goodness of God, that you present your bodies to Him as a living and holy sacrific, acceptable to God, as your spiritual service of worship. ~Romans 12:1

…when you present yourselves to someone in obedience, you are slaves to the one whom you obey. You can be slaves to sin and die, or you can be obedient slaves of God resulting in righteousness. ~Romans 6:16

 How we minister to people:
For I was hungery and you gave me something to eat, I was thristy and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to see me… I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did it for me. ~Matthew 25:35-36,40

…if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward. ~Matthew 10:42

…warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. ~I Thessalonians 5:14

We proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all His energy, which so powerfully works in me. ~Colossians 1:28-29

All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation… we are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God is making His appeal through us. ~II Corinthians 5:18,20

How we minister in the world:
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed upon a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. ~Matthew 5:14-16

Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. ~Matthew 28:19-20

I am sending you out like lambs into a pack of wolves. So be as wise as snakes and as innocent as doves. ~Matthew 10:16
